About

A little birdy told me that reviewing bands, especially indie and underground ones, is a great way to spread the word about good music. Let’s work together to ensure the survival of well made art! I will do my best to keep up with my part of it; updating this page 2-3 times a week with new content. Your part? Well, that is most of all to read it, but also to suggest new music to me and to spread the word! Let’s work together to help this project really take off.

Email me if have questions, comments, or would like me to review a specific artist. CardinalPlaylists (at) gmail (dot) com

Interviews: These are one of our main focuses here at Cardinal Playlists. We believe that through interviewing bands we help our audience gain an appreciation for their music and an idea of their character.

Album Reviews: I typically try to review albums as I hear about them (hoping that they are still recent/relevant) in an attempt to share my discoveries with the world. These posts will typically explain my thoughts while listening to an album all the way through. I will include specific tracks to check out, and at the end of each post I will rate the album 1-10.

Bird Songs: In nature it is typically the male birds who sing. Not for their love of music, but for their desire to find a mate. A pretty song is a male birds way of saying “Hey, look at me! I am healthy and have traits worth passing on!” In that way, a Bird Song is a perfect song, one that is timeless and beautiful. A song with s a purpose. For the birds, the song helps to ensure the survival of their species. The songs on my list, however, help to ensure the survival of good music. These posts will be comprised of single songs that are worth a listen or two. I pick them because they are beautiful.

Flight Favorites: These are songs that I enjoy listening to while I drive/travel. I will let them speak for themselves.

The Monthly Mixtape : Every month I will try to create a .zip file with some of the tracks I have been listening to. I will host it through my mediafire account to make it easily downloadable. Any songs on those mixtapes, however, are just for sampling the works of each artist and I encourage you to help support the creation of good music by purchasing their cds/etc.
